- Introduction to PPE Definition and role of PPE in occupational risk prevention. Regulatory importance and legal obligations for employers and employees.
- Technical Characteristics
- Helmets: materials, shock resistance, certification standards.
- Safety gloves: types (cut-resistant, thermal, chemical), selection criteria.
- Safety footwear: anti‑perforation soles, protective toecaps, anti‑slip features.
- Goggles and visors: protection against projections, radiation, dust.
- Respiratory protection: filters, masks, cartridges for gases or particles.
- Fall protection: harnesses, lanyards, energy absorbers, lifelines, restraint and fall‑arrest systems.
- Proper Use Best practices for fitting and maintenance. Service life and storage conditions. Limitations and complementarity with collective protection.
- Practical Application Risk analysis: identifying mechanical, chemical, electrical, biological, and fall hazards. Constraints evaluation: comfort, ergonomics, compatibility with other equipment. Selection tools: grid or software for choosing PPE by job role and risk level. Case studies: PPE selection for construction sites, laboratories, and industrial workshops.
