1. Description

This CPD program is designed to equip CSR practitioners, auditors, and implementers with a comprehensive understanding of SA8000 (Social Accountability) and ISO 26000 (Social Responsibility). Over three days, participants will explore the principles, requirements, and practical applications of these standards, gaining the skills to integrate them into organizational systems, prepare documentation, and conduct effective audits.

SA8000 is based on the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Convention on the Rights of Child and various International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions.
Social Accountability International (SAI) is a US-based non-governmental, not-for-profit organization that promotes the human rights of workers through the development of a voluntary standard, named SA 8000. 

ISO 26000 is an international standard developed to help organizations effectively assess and address social responsibilities that are relevant and significant to their mission and vision; operations and processes; customers, employees, communities, and other stakeholders; and environmental impact. ISO 26000 presents a comprehensive documentation of social responsibilities including core
subjects and issues related to those subjects. 

2. Duration and Course Plan

The total duration of this course is three days, equivalent to 24 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD):

Day 1: Foundations of Social Standards

Participants gain a strong grounding in SA8000 and ISO 26000, understanding their origins, objectives, and global relevance. The day emphasizes the importance of social accountability and responsibility frameworks, with a detailed exploration of SA8000 requirements such as labor rights, health and safety, and fair remuneration.

Chapter 2: SA8000 in Detail

Day 2: ISO 26000 & Implementation Tools

The focus shifts to ISO 26000, covering its seven core subjects and practical applications. Learners examine how to integrate these principles into organizational governance and CSR strategies. The day also covers documentation essentials, teaching participants how to prepare policies, procedures, and records that demonstrate compliance and readiness for audits.

Chapter 4: Documentation for Implementation

Day 3: Certification & Auditing Practice

The final Chapter provides a step‑by‑step roadmap to certification and auditing, including preparation, audit execution, corrective actions, and continual improvement. Participants engage in mock audit exercises and learn how to maintain compliance over time.
